It’s time to get down to the allotment or your kitchen garden and start growing shallots for a delicious harvest next year. And of course we have a fabulous video from Ellen Mary of Ellen Mary Gardening showing us all just how it’s done. In this episode of our ‘How To Garden‘ series Ellen shows us just how easy it is to plant shallots for a bumper harvest. You’ll need some shallots, good quality organic manure and a plank of wood to get started. There are also some handy tips on how to keep pests and diseases at bay.
Your shallots should be ready to harvest in the middle of next year which gives you plenty of time to put together some recipes…We like them thinly sliced or diced in a salad or if the weather is a tad colder we pop them in a beef bourguignon. Yum!
