Gardeners are growing mad for GardenTags

It looks like we’ve started a ‘thing’ with GardenTags. It’s been three months since our launch event ‘The future of gardening: How do we spark a growing revolution?” and we’ve had 60,000 app downloads, 1,500,000 Likes, 100,000 user plant & garden photos and over 30,000 plants identified for free! Our growing gardening community is also using the GardenTags app in ways we never imagined. From Naomi’s GardenTags inspired seed swap in her sweet shop, to gardener meet-ups across the UK and as far flung as Queensland Australia.
At the heart of GardenTags is a thriving community of gardeners of all abilities who are sharing advice, tips and planting inspiration. What makes GardenTags unique is that users can also benefit from free plant identification and a plant care diary which sets automatic reminders.

With a 4.5 out of 5 star rating on Google Play we think it’s safe to say our members like the app. Here’s just a snap shot of what they have to say:
@StephanieWatkins “I’ve all but abandoned Twitter now. Love the GardenTags app. It’s great to see other people’s passion for gardening. I even love the pictures of people’s ramshackled gardens who are looking for guidance – ooh the potential“
@craftymother “I am just loving this app, there is so much experience on here, it’s brill!“
@Karol4193 “Been looking for an app like this for a while now and finally I’ve found it“
We also have over 1,000 expert gardeners and bloggers on the app who are using GardenTags to inspire others to grow and engage with new audiences:
Ellen Mary Gardening – Gardening TV presenter, columnist and blogger
“GardenTags is proving to be an inclusive app where all abilities and experience help each other in a friendly and fun way. For me, being able to encourage other gardeners, especially those just starting out, is a pleasure and the task list is handy too!”
Ellen Mary
Geoff Stonebanks – Driftwood NGS Garden
“Since joining Garden Tags, with a degree of scepticism I hasten to add, I’m absolutely amazed at the wonderful interaction I’ve since had with like-minded gardeners in this country and across the world. It has certainly brought my garden to a wider audience and it’s so incredible to get such lovely comments from others about what I have achieved and to know that they are inspired, through the images I post, to replicate some of my ideas in their own plots. I cannot recommend the “app” enough for others to engage with!”
Geoff Stonebanks
Michael Perry – Plant hunter, presenter and founder of the grubby gardeners
“Not to ride on the popularity of the perhaps better known app, but GardenTags really IS the ‘Instagram for plants’! Gardeners and plant lovers can experience pure plant indulgence, which isn’t punctuated by cats and roast dinners, as it can be on Instagram! You can use GardenTags at whatever level you choose too; perhaps you just want to look at pretty flower pictures, but you might also want to go deeper and learn from the crowd-built encyclopaedia. You can even subscribe to the task reminders, so your garden can start looking as good as the gardens of those followers you admire!”
Michael Perry
National and gardening press have some very kind words to say as well:
“Combines photo sharing, plant inspiration and a gardening community all in one package”
BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine
“Join a community who will help you identify plants and tackle gardening problems”
Sainsbury’s Magazine
“It’s brilliant for inspiration”
Modern Gardens Magazine
“Fantastic new app…keep a photographic record of their plant collection and learn how to take care of them using the community generated plant encyclopedia”
Your Home Magazine
“inspire people to become more green-fingered”
Bella Magazine
We’re certainly not going to rest on our laurels. We’ve been listening to our members and have a whole raft of exciting new app features coming up over the months. Watch this space and get involved.
